Tordon RTU

Available In-Store

Apply this after cutting stumps to prevent future growth.

1. How it Works

Tordon RTU (Ready-To-Use) is a specialized herbicide designed to kill woody plants such as trees, shrubs, and vines. The active ingredients in Tordon disrupt the growth processes of targeted plants, leading to their eventual death. Specifically, these ingredients interfere with the plant’s ability to produce essential amino acids, which are crucial for growth and survival.

Tordon is systemic, meaning that once it’s applied to the plant, it’s absorbed and transported throughout the plant’s system. This ensures that the entire plant, from its leaves to its roots, is affected, providing comprehensive control.

2. Usage

Tordon is designed for easy application, especially for cut stump treatments. The ready-to-use formulation means that no mixing is required, making it convenient for individual plant treatments.

To apply, simply wet the cut surfaces of the unwanted plants with the product. It’s essential to ensure thorough coverage for maximum effectiveness. Since Tordon is a potent herbicide, care should be taken to avoid contact with desired plants, as it can harm them as well.

Always follow label instructions regarding application methods, rates, and safety precautions to achieve the best results and avoid potential harm to non-target plants and the environment.

3. Targeting Specific Pests and Diseases

Tordon is formulated to control a wide range of woody plants and broadleaf weeds. This includes, but is not limited to, species like black locust, osage orange, and various types of brush and thistles. Its systemic nature ensures that even hard-to-control plants with deep root systems are effectively targeted.

For areas with heavy infestations or particularly resilient plants, multiple applications or a higher dosage might be necessary. Regular monitoring of the treated area and timely applications can help ensure a landscape free of unwanted woody plants and broadleaf weeds, allowing desired vegetation to thrive.

Note: As always, when using any herbicide product, it’s essential to read and follow label instructions carefully when using Tordon. The product should be stored safely, out of reach of children and pets, and users should wear appropriate protective equipment during application. Additionally, Tordon is known to persist in the soil, so users should be cautious about where and how they apply it.

Watering Tips

  • Our watering advice is based on plants living in a 72 degree house. Porch life or humidity could have an impact on its watering needs.
  • Always use tepid water for watering your houseplants.
  • Broadleaf plants need less water in fall and winter, but you should never allow the soil to completely dry out.
